What a summer!

Man this past summer flew by here at the farm. Ive had one of the worst years so far for barnacles growing on my gear and oysters. The heat produced quite a bit of oyster die off this year, probably about twice as much as a normal summer. I was actually very fortunate to only have as much “mortality” as I did. Quite a few oyster farmers in Carteret County lost most or all their oysters in May and June. I’m starting to get excited about the cooler weather that will be here soon. I’ll get my “colder month customers” back. We have been cnjoying our Saturdays at the Olde Beaufort Farmers Market shucking and selling oysters and oysters crafts. We have recently picked up MJ’s Raw Bar and Grill in New Bern our newest resturant. Mike and his staff are awesome and the food is great….especially the oysters!
